Brunei Darussalam Located in the world's third largest island, North-west of Borneo; wedged between the states of Sarawak and Sabah. The nation's riverfront capital-Bandar Seri Begawan has a total population of 56, 300 people. It is the seat of government, commerce and culture and administration.
History: The Country is ruled according to Islamic values and traditions by the present Monarch, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the 29 th ascendant of the world's oldest continuously reigning royal line.
Land Area Brunei is made up of four districts, namely, Muara, Tutong, Belait and Temburong. With a total land area of 5,765 sq. km, Brunei is located just 443 km north of the equator, north of the South China Sea.
Population Brunei has a total population of 30 million people. Roughly 67% of the population is Malay; 17% Chinese, 6% comprises of members of indigenous tribes, while the rest are Australian or Indian. Almost half of the total population aged between 20 to 54 years old, the population increases range between 2.4% to 2.6%, the life expectancy for both male and female is 70.1 years old and 72.7 years old respectively.
Ecomonic Brunei is heavily dependant in its oil and gas industry as the prime source of revenue for Brunei's economic. Almost 99% of Brunei's oil and gas production is exported to countries such as Japan, America, Korea, Taiwan, Australia and many more. 4,352 sq. km of Brunei's land area is covered with dense tropical forest, which took up 75% of the total land area of Brunei.
Climate Located near to the equator, Brunei experienced tropical climate, where there is an abundant amount of rainfall and sunlight throughout the year, with a mean annual temperature of 31 degree Celsius. Brunei does not experience any earthquake or tsunami. The monsoon season normally falls during the month of November to March of the following year. The annual rainfall of Brunei is 2790 mm.
Currency Brunei Darussalam operates a currency board system and has no Central Bank. The Brunei Dollar is at par with the Singapore Dollar and both are freely traded in their respective countries.
Religion and Language Brunei is an Islamic country, with over 600 years of recorded history. Nevertheless, Buddhist and Christian is also well respect by the nations. Malay is the official national language, but English is widely spoken and understood by all.
