  • Zuiganji Temple
    One of Tohoku region’s most famous Zen temples. The temple's Main Hall emerges at the end of the leading path. Attached to the hall is the Kuri, the Zen kitchen where meals were prepared in the past. Both buildings are designated as national treasures.
  • Geibikei
    Admire the sight of an evocative scene created from jaw-dropping rocks during a boat cruise.
  • Hirosaki Castle
    Thousand cherry trees planted around the castle grounds, making it one of Japan's most spectacular cherry blossom spot. In Autumn, the castle grounds are filled in colorful red and yellow leaves.
  • Nebuta Village
    Famous tourist spot where you can experience Hirosaki Neputa Festival. The fan-shaped Neputa actually used in the festival are exhibited for viewing. You can also try the taiko (Japanese drums) along with the Neputa musicians.
  • Lake Towada
    Beautiful reflections of the sky and mountains on the clear blue water of the largest crater lake in Honshu. It is famous for its picturesque scenery and the mysterious beauty of the lake.
  • Chusonji
    One of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the most famous attraction in Hiraizumi. Chusonji was founded in 850 as a temple of the Tendai sect of Buddhism. Konjikido is a hall completely covered in gold. It dates back to 1124 and currently stands within another building for protection.
  • Yamadera
    A scenic temple located in the mountains northeast of Yamagata City. The temple was founded over a thousand years ago in 860 as a temple of the Tendai sect under the official name Risshakuji. Its popular name, Yamadera, literally means "mountain temple" in Japanese.
